The mission of the Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley’s Inter-Tribal Resource is to Teach, Educate, Advocate, and Mentor (TEAM) American Indian/Alaskan Native and others who want to learn more about the American Indian culture and Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley. The Inter-Tribal Health Council also aims to restore the relationship between IHC and the community and prospective employees by improving our practice and everyday interactions with the community and among staff.
Activities and Events
Second Tuesday of each month from 6 pm to 8 pm
Located in the IHC Administration Conference Room
This Talking Circle focuses on various topics, approached from a respectful and appreciative place. Everything that is said, stays within that circle. This circle is a healing for many people that attend.
Second Friday of each month from 8 am to 5 pm
Located in the Sage Room at the IHC Community Wellness and Outreach Department
These Community Circles bring the AI/AN community together through accessible, intergenerational activities. Many of the items that people make can be can be completed and taken home in the same day. We also offer card games, Bingo with prizes, board games, various arts and crafts activities, as well as light snacks and refreshments.
Inter-Tribal Resource Community Engagement Committee
This committee meets twice a year, once in February and once in August.
A wide range of topics are discussed in this group, from what is going well in the community to what we can improve upon moving forward.
The IHC hosts two Town Halls each year, one in the spring and one in the fall.
Dinner is offered at to attendees these Town Halls. These events intend to engage the community to identify community needs and give updates. We also have a raffle at the end of the night. AI/AN community is invited, as well as IHC staff and members. Town Halls are First Come First Serve, for a maximum of 150 people.
Spring & Fall Gatherings
The IHC hosts two Gatherings each year, one in the spring and one in the fall.
These Gatherings bring people together to enjoy a meal. AI/AN community is invited, as well as IHC staff and members. People meet with old friends and make new friends. We also have a raffle at the end of the night. Gatherings are First Come First Serve, for a maximum of 200 people.
