ALERT LEVEL:  YELLOW   STATUS: WILDFIRE

SCHWARZENEGGER DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR SANTA CLARA AND SANTA CRUZ COUNTIES.

A wildfire in the Santa Cruz mountains has caused damage to nearly 4,000 acres and has destroyed many houses in the area.  Many residents have been asked or ordered to evacuate their homes until the situation is under control.  The fire officially crossed county lines and entered Santa Clara County. Due to this, we must issue an alert level YELLOW until the fire is under control within our county.  Several news stations are reporting on the fire and links to their articles can be viewed below.  At this time, it is NOT recommended for anyone in Santa Clara County to be concerned with evacuation.  Should an evacuation order be released by the County, it will be posted here.
